Tour of Lombardy moved to August, one week to Milan-San Remo | Right away

The Tour of Lombardy, traditionally the last biggest cycling race of the season, takes place in the summer of this year. The Italian autumn classic was postponed by the international cycling union UCI in mid-August.

The new WorldTour calendar now begins with a series of Italian one-day races, with Strade Bianche on August 1, Milan-San Remo on August 8 and the Tour of Lombardy on August 15.

The UCI had to reclassify the season almost completely due to the Corona crisis. The league released a calendar with the Lombardy tour on October 31, the last classic of the year, but organizer RCS didn’t like that. The UCI found a solution this week after two days of digital meetings.

The Tour of Lombardy, which bauke Mollema won last year, now collides with the Critérium du Dauphiné (12-16 August). For many riders, the French stage race will be an important preparation for the Tour de France (29 August to 20 September).

The UCI has also found an appointment for the EuroEyes Cyclassics Hamburg. The German classic, which had no place in the new calendar, is scheduled for October 3. The Tour of Guangxi also runs from October 15-20 to November 5-10, making the running Chinese WorldTour the last race of the year.

A few small changes have also been made to the women’s calendar. The Vargarda West Sweden, a team time trial and classic in Sweden, and the Tour of Norway will not start and the Tour of Guangxi will go from October 20th to November 10th.
