Top striker Lewandowski is training the day before the game against Orange | with Poland NOW
Robert Lewandowski appears to be available for Poland in the Nations League game with the Orange squad on Wednesday. The top striker just trained on Tuesday evening.
It was previously reported that Lewandowski sustained an injury to Italy (2-0 defeat) on Sunday and that his game against the Orange squad was highly uncertain.
The 32-year-old Bayern Munich striker was visibly upset by his side’s weak game on Sunday and escaped a red card when he hit an opponent with an elbow. According to some Polish media, Lewandowski would be very angry about the tactical decisions made by national coach Jerzy Brzeczek.
Brzeczek said at the press conference before training on Tuesday that he had spoken to Lewandowski and that they had said everything. “The atmosphere in the team is great,” he said.
The position of the national coach is under pressure after the loss to Italy. “Of the 23 games under my leadership, we only lost six,” said Brezeczek.
“Lewandowski may be the best striker in the world”
Dutch national coach Frank de Boer gave a press conference on Tuesday and it still seemed that Lewandowski wasn’t going to play. “He’s maybe the best center forward in the world right now.”
“It wouldn’t be bad for us if he couldn’t play. I don’t know if that’s really the case, we’ll see it tomorrow,” said De Boer, who is expecting a tough game anyway. “Poland have enough good players.”
Poland-Netherlands will be played in Chorzow on Wednesday and starts at 8.45 p.m.
