The top scorer Smits leads the PSV women to victory NOW with an eleventh and twelfth goal

Joëlle Smits led PSV to a win over VV Alkmaar on Friday evening. The top scorer in the women’s Eredivisie scored both Brabant goals in a 2-1 win. The subtoppers ADO Den Haag and sc Heerenveen also got three points.

Smits gave PSV the lead ten minutes after the break after a penalty in Alkmaar. Fifteen minutes later, the striker scored the 0-2 with a pass from substitute Jeslynn Kuijpers. Charlotte Hulst replied almost immediately with the 2-1, but VV Alkmaar did not progress.

The 20-year-old Smits has already scored twelve goals after eight games. This puts the two-time national player at the top of the women’s Eredivisie goalscorer list.

PSV, who lost to FC Twente (3-2) on Sunday, remain in second place after their sixth win of the season, three points ahead of Ajax. The league leader is still without any points loss after seven duels and will visit FC Twente on Sunday.

ADO Den Haag achieved a 3-0 home win against PEC Zwolle with the number three from Enschede. Gwyneth Hendriks opened the goal early with a penalty, after which Jaimy Ravensbergen and Anne Sellies ensured a convincing victory in the second half.

Sc Heerenveen remains fifth with three points from ADO. The Frisian team were far too strong for Excelsior at home: 3-0. The goals from Francisca Cardoso, Samantha Dewey and Tiny Hoekstra all came before half-time.
