PEC dismisses coach Stegeman after a painful defeat at FC Emmen | NOW
PEC Zwolle has sacked coach John Stegeman, the club reported on Saturday evening. Earlier in the evening, the people of Zwolle lost 3-2 to FC Emmen.
As early as December, PEC announced that the contract with Stegeman was not being extended. The 44-year-old coach and the club would split up after this season, but due to the disappointing results, the collaboration will now end immediately. PEC writes that it hopes to introduce a new trainer soon.
Stegeman was previously head coach at Heracles Almelo and Go Ahead Eagles, PEC’s major rivals. His move to Zwolle in mid-2019 was sensitive and in his first year at PEC he could not convince with a fifteenth place.
PEC is currently number 13 in the Eredivisie after failing to win five games in a row.
