Memphis helps Lyon score and helps show, Ibrahimovic returns | NOW
Memphis Depay helped Olympique Lyon draw a 2-2 draw with Stade Rennes on Saturday. In Italy, Zlatan Ibrahimovic returned to AC Milan, who beat Turin 2-0.
Lyon, surprisingly leading in Ligue 1, faced their second defeat of the season at Rennes for a long time. With goals from Clément Grenier and Benjamin Bourigeaud, the home team took the lead 2-0.
Memphis brought Lyon back into play with a nice volley ten minutes before the start of the game, and three minutes later the 26-year-old Dutchman managed to hit Jason Denayer’s head with a cross. Then the Belgian took care of the equalization.
For Memphis, his goal was his tenth goal of the season. On Wednesday he was also accurate twice in the 3-2 home game against RC Lens.
Ibrahimovic returns after eleven games
39-year-old Ibrahimovic, who missed 11 games with a calf injury, came on in the 85th minute. At that point, the 2-0 final was already on the scoreboard thanks to a goal from Rafael Leão and a penalty shoot-out by Franck Kessié – both goals came before half-time.
Ibrahimovic is of great value to the Rossoneri this season. Before his injury, the Swede had already scored eleven goals and two assists in ten games. Despite these good statistics, he also missed a few duels earlier this season because he was infected with the corona virus.
Milan are bouncing back with their victory against Juventus earlier this week (1-3). Thanks to the win, Stefano Pioli’s team has four points ahead of the number two Internazionale, who will visit AS Roma on Sunday.
On Saturday before, Atalanta was unbeaten for the ninth game in a row thanks to a 4-1 victory at Benevento. Marten de Roon and Hans Hateboer played the entire game against Benevento, while Sam Lammers stayed on the bench again. Thanks to the win, Atalanta climbed to fourth place in Serie A.
