Kane returns to Tottenham Hotspur after six months at Home To-Alls against United Right away
Harry Kane will make his first few minutes of play for Tottenham Hotspur in almost half a year in the Premier League game against Manchester United on Friday. The striker, who has recovered from a tendon injury, will be given a starting place by manager José Mourinho.
The Portuguese does not know if the 26-year-old Kane is fit enough for an entire game. “Whether he plays 90, 80, 70 or 60 minutes will show the game,” Mourinho said at Tottenham’s press conference on Thursday before the game at Tottenham Hotspur Stadium.
Kane picked up the injury in the home game against Southampton on New Year’s Day. He even had to have surgery and used the Corona stop to get fit. “But I don’t know if he’s in top form,” Mourinho said. “You can’t compare a game to a training ground.”
Mourinho also confirmed that Son Heung-min and Moussa Sissoko are part of the squad after struggling with injuries. Son was in South Korea for a few weeks during the Corona Stop to carry out his conscription.
“We face an incredible challenge”
Tottenham resume their Premier League season as number eight, four points behind number five Manchester United. Both clubs are in the last nine rounds for a place in the top four and thus for qualification for the Champions League.
“We face an incredible challenge with Tottenham,” Mourinho said. “Every game we have to go for the win and not look too much at the competition. Therefore, I cannot even say how many points we have gone through. We’re just looking at ourselves.’
Tottenham v United starts on Friday at 9.15pm. On the same evening, Norwich City-Southampton starts at 7pm.
