How to make teleworking fun: ‘Tasks with art and books’ – Relaxation
Companies, employers and employees are speeding through the working day from their own living room. Boring doesn’t have to be so teleworking. In this section we collect the best stories. Today: Liesel Verdonck, Public Development Officer at Leisure Companies publiq.
“I am a public development employee at Treasures of Fly, a summer campaign for families. Under the family label “Vlieg” treasure tours in and around libraries, museums and outdoor locations in Flanders and Brussels are organized during the summer months. Out of respect for social renunciation, we want to offer many families a good time again this year. We are a small team and therefore very close.
Since the beginning of the lockdown, we have challenged each other to overcome a daily challenge. In recent weeks, however, this has been every two or three days. There is a certain creativity involved in collecting so many original and fun tasks. They ask for time, but we also get a lot of energy from it.
Nevertheless, these tasks are very successful. We held a Bookface Challenge. In addition, you need to complete the cover of a book with your body. This turned out to be a serious challenge when you don’t have many books in your house, so your colleagues got creative with records.”
“We also searched for the most original place in the house to work upright. In the workplace we have adjustable desks for people with back problems or just working in a different position. We discovered that an ironing board is multifunctional and the soap stand in the shower hangs at exactly the right height. But also that you can see your little brother not as a burden, but as an advantage.
As a cultural organisation, we have, of course, not been able to allow the #tussenkunstenquarantaine challenge to go unnoticed. For this task, everyone had to imitate a work of art as original as possible. Real gems came out.”
“We also made a home version of the TV show ‘Come to eat’. We shared our lunches by presenting and photographing them as beautifully as possible. And then the rest gave points, of course we couldn’t compare the taste, so what was presented best got the highest points (laughs). In times of corona, we need to get creative to meet the challenges well.
Finally, I also created a joint music room with a colleague. Also at work we listen to the same music via playlists and YouTube on Friday afternoon. In the Music Room app, you can share all your favorite songs. And it’s really a space. When I stop the music at home, my colleague doesn’t hear anything. This reminds you of the store space when you are in the same room.
You’ll also get to know each other in a different way. For example, you ask why a specific number was added to the list, and you get a whole story about the memory associated with it. The biggest stories come on top of this music, and that makes the song and the playlist even more special.”
Do you do something original and beautiful to get the teleworking fun? Post is still possible: myrte.de.decker@trends.be We take care of the rest.
