How to keep teleworking fun: ‘Animated wrestling lessons and cooking workshops’ – Relaxation

Companies, employers and employees are speeding through the working day from their own living room. Boring doesn’t have to be so teleworking. In this section we collect the best stories. Today: Consultant Véronique Goethals from the strategic communication consultancy Akkanto.

“Since the start of the lockdown, we have a weekly animated sports lesson via Zoom. Each colleague takes turns putting together a program so that we always focus on a different body zone. We vary between arms, legs, abdomen, buttocks… This initiative is based on our physical education in the office. There, too, we retreat to a room every week to move in with colleagues.”

“We always try to enjoy these lessons. That’s how we dressed up. Me and my son opted for a nurse outfit. My mother-in-law works at the Erasmus hospital in Brussels. So I was able to thank all the caregivers with a wink.

This is also the great thing about online sports lessons: our children can participate. My eldest son sits in front of the screen every week, waiting for the “fitness instructor” to appear. Recently he even asked me if I work in a sports shop because we move so much (laughs).

We complement these sports lessons with other group moments. Since our team likes to stand behind the cooking pots and like good food, we organized a virtual cooking workshop last week. We have two colleagues who attend cooking classes in the evening school. My colleague Evi became a teacher on this occasion and was not a student. On the menu? Pasta with avocado sauce, broccoli and mushrooms.

It was really fun. She showed us different techniques and gave some tips and tricks. You will also get to know your colleagues in a completely different way. Everyone works in their own kitchen. Some turn out to be pietje-exact and follow the recipe closely. Others then cook on their Feeling. Then the creativity comes out.””

“We are a close-knit team that thinks it is important to do things together in addition to the work. We usually get space and budget for it. Our options are now more limited, but we are making the most of the situation, especially now that it looks like we need to stay in our room a little longer. Anyone can suggest an online activity.

What else is on the agenda? We are all thrilled Karaoke people. We definitely want to do it again, but we haven’t found an app or website that can help us do that. The animal lovers among us were with the pets for a day. And a colleague who has an Italian blog wants to update our culture. We still have a lot of ideas to get through the lockdown.”
