Tourist in his country… It would be almost perfect as the title of a song or a novel. But that will be the reality of many Belgians this summer 2020. In order to enable them to use their capital, the promotion of tourism is Visit.brussels invites us to discover the heart of Europe in an original, unexpected way with inexperienced eyes. A beautiful experience to which you invite… Brussels itself! In fact, it is the lovers of their city who equip these special excursions and share their secret with you. We have selected five. It is up to you to choose them or not to vote for them and make them all.

  1. 1. GESCHMACK AND FESTIVE TRAVEL: THE SLAB

If you visit Brussels or just live, you can’t choose between several restaurants that can end up being disappointed. The Collective The Dalle, consisting of real Brusselsians, whose favorites you will discover, offers you a walk in the city of about two hours. You will go through four different addresses for four dishes to enjoy (3 savoury – 1 sweet). The departure is organised from Poelaert Square.

2. ARCHITECTURAL BRUSSELS AND HIS MANY SECRETS

TheUrban Research and Action Workshop (Arau) believes that all Brussels residents “must be able to analyse and act on the future of their city”. In this sense, they offer summer walks in many parts of the capital. All have names that make you want to wander around: “the secrets of Ambiorix Square”, “the street of Cubism in Koekelberg”, “the roundabout of the star on the Tonneau”, “how to save the industrial heritage” … This is a new cycle of short evening visits to make the most of summer
Brussels.

3. IN BRUSSELS WE OVERTAKE CARS BY BIKE

You put the bikes on the bike rack of the car, you set the contact and the direction… The sea? The Ardennes? No, go to the capital! Yes, discovering Brussels by bike is magical and quite feasible. Every weekend, the association is Pro Bike offers guided bike tours from 12 to 20 km to explore Brussels and its many green areas. A great way to explore the other facets of the capital. Pro Vélo offers you a brand new 60 km itinerary for an all-day walk on the weekend of 11 and 12 July! And the next day we go on a bike tour to discover the sights. Get on your bikes for a few laps!

It happens every Thursday and Friday evening of the Brussels summer. We will take you on an extraordinary one-hour visit to the Abattoir Farm, in the heart of Brussels, on the roof of Foodmet. Outdoor garden, greenhouse and fish farm are on the menu of the visit, all with a magnificent view of Brussels. The grounds of the Abattoir are also famous for its cellars, its listed hall and its lively market. It houses the last artisanal slaughterhouse built in the centre of a European capital.
